Back up and transfer first
Make sure the photos, contacts and other information you need are backed up and available on your new device before you erase the old one. Avoid manually deleting synced photos or contacts, because those changes can affect your other devices.
Remove linked accounts
Follow Apple’s current instructions for signing out, unpairing a linked Apple Watch where applicable, and removing the device from your account. Menu names can change between iOS versions. Never send us your password or passcode.
Erase the phone
Use the manufacturer’s erase process only after you have checked your backup. Check Apple’s current advice for your SIM or eSIM and any payment cards. The phone should be ready for a new owner, not still linked to yours.
Give it a final check
Confirm the model and storage, note any known faults, and follow the packing instructions supplied with your trade-in. Contact us before posting a device with battery damage.
